SUGGESTED PACKING LIST:
This is a great source for just about anything you could possibly need in travel size www.minimus.com.
We want to leave nothing behind but our footprints!
***On a side note; if someone has a guitar (or any other musical instrument) they can play and they'd be willing to bring that would be great for the fire at night. Fun is the only requirement, talent is optional, and that goes for those of us willing to join in on the singing.
You will be surprised how much you can safely pack into your kayak if it is done properly. REI is an excellent source for lightweight, small sized equipment designed for backpacking and kayaking. It is also a great place for dehydrated food, eco friendly shampoo soap, toothpaste, wipes, etc.
If you do not have a map of the area, tide chart, compass, etc., it is not absolutely necessary. We will be doing our day trips, or any outings, together in groups. It is always best to be as self reliant as possible in any given situation but we will use the buddy system throughout this trip. Meaning no one is to leave without being prepared and informing the others of their intentions … For example, who's going with you, when will you be back, do you have all you need, is it the right time for the tide and the area to be paddled, etc.
***We're all adults and if we use a little common sense, good communication, mutual courtesy and watch one another's backs we will have a great experience!
Also, Raccoons are out-n-about so it's important to keep food in a container that can be hung from a rope tied between 2 trees out of their reach.
